Arsene Wenger insists Alexis Sanchez will be ‘100 per cent committed’ to Arsenal despite the club denying his move to Manchester City on deadline day.
City had a £60m bid for the Chile international accepted on Thursday morning but Arsenal pulled the plug on the deal as their first-choice replacement, Thomas Lemar, opted to stay at Monaco.
The decision has reportedly left Sanchez furious with Arsenal and the 28-year-old is now in line to leave on a free transfer next summer once his contract expires.
Reports have suggested that Sanchez has no motivation to continue playing for Arsenal, but Wenger is adamant that the failed transfer will not have an impact on the forward’s performances.
Arsene Wenger insists Alexis Sanchez is co,mitted to Arsenal.
‘Your interest is always to perform and he is 100 per cent committed, I have no doubt about that,’ the Arsenal manager told beIN Sports.
‘It’s very difficult for me to speak about what happened because what I want the player to do now is focus on his career, on his season and on Arsenal Football Club.
‘I spoke before about integrity and values and I always make sure my commitment is at the level expected from the people who pay me and have confidence in me.
‘I think the players’ side is exactly the same.’
