Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are said to be expecting a girl.
A source confirmed that the couple are expanding their family with the use of a surrogate, and now it’s thought that the new mini Kardashian West will be a girl, according to TMZ.
The couple are already parents to North and Saint, and are said to have paid a woman $45,000 (£35.5k) to carry their child, to be paid in 10 installments.
It was also agreed the woman would receive an extra $5,000 (£3,800) per child in the event of a multiple pregnancy and an additional $4,000 (£3k) if she lost reproductive organs in the process.
The surrogate has been put on a strict lifestyle overhaul, with no smoking, drinking or drugs, and she’s had to give up using hot tubs or saunas, sorting cat litter, dying her hair, caffeine and raw fish.
The woman was also banned from having sex in the lead up to embryo implantation, while Kim and Kanye signed a clause in their contract that says they must ‘assume the legal and parental responsibilities for any child … that may possess any congenital or other abnormalities or defects.’
People magazine confirmed the news of the Kardashian West’s third baby – and revealed ‘the entire family is over the moon’.
‘Kim had been looking for a surrogate for months until recently when she found the perfect candidate,’ the source added, referencing Kim’s issues in the past with her pregnancies which led to the decision to have a surrogate carry her child.
‘Given her health scares in the past, Kim felt the need to hire a surrogacy agency that helped serve as the liaison in finding a healthy woman who would be a great surrogate option for her and Kanye. Both of them have been super involved in the process.’
Kim and Kanye married in 2014; their son Saint is 21 months old, while daughter North turned four in June.
Kim has always said that she wanted a big family however her health complications have meant that she’s unable to have a third baby naturally; she suffered with placenta accreta, where the placenta grows into the muscle of the uterus, in past pregnancies.
