The woman who let Wayne Rooney drive her car on the day he was arrested for drink driving has given her side of the story.
Laura Simpson, 29, reportedly drank a bottle of prosecco and vodka while partying with the former England captain on Thursday night.
Rooney was then driving the single mother home when he was pulled over and arrested.
He has since been charged by police for drink driving.
The pair were partying near his mansion in Alderley Edge on Thursday night, while the Everton star’s pregnant wife, Coleen, was on holiday in Mallorca.
Laura, and office worker, told MailOnline that they had a ‘kiss, a hug and some banter’, but said it went no further, adding: ‘I’m not a marriage wrecker.’
Rooney reportedly danced on tables whilst singing along to Oasis songs and posed for selfies with fans during his night out, which Laura described as a ‘mad few hours’.
The night started many hours earlier when Rooney met up with fellow footballer Wes Brown and Phil Bardsley’s younger brother for a meal before moving on to the bar.
Speaking of the moment they were pulled over, Laura said: ‘I felt safe with Wayne, his driving was OK. We were on the road for 10-15 minutes and then we thought we saw flashing police lights so Wayne slowed down, he wasn’t speeding, and stopped at the side of the road.
‘There were two officers, I think and Wayne looked really worried. He turned and said to me “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, you’ll be OK, I’m getting out of here”.
‘On reflection he was foolish for driving me car if he was over the limit, it was silly.’
Rooney’s wife Coleen is reportedly flying back form her holiday to confront him over the arrest.
